THE STORY BEHIND THE ACE

ALWAYS CLOSING EFFECTIVELY (ACE)

The earliest card games where seen across China, Arabia & Persia. Back then the Ace was the lowest valued card in the pack.​ During C15th when card games moved to Europe, the French introduced the royal cards and the Ace was renamed: Deuce. Seeing a promotion in value, it sat between the 10 and Jack.​

From C17th onwards the Ace received a further promotion to the highest valued card in the pack to allow it to connect to both the King and the 2. ​

This philosophy is the core of Closers Ace. No matter if you are a beginner or mid-weight all members of Closers Ace will become the most valued member of their team. After all,

TOM LUKE'S STORY

At the tender age of 16, Tom Luke embarked on his professional journey, assuming the role of a maths and english tutor at a centre for children. However, his entrepreneurial spirit had already been ignited at the age of 11, where he immersed himself in the buying and selling of items at car boot sales. Earning the nickname 'Del Boy' Tom demonstrated an innate passion for unearthing hidden treasures.
 

For university, Tom studied product and furniture design. Fuelled by a passion for addressing consumer challenges and designing out solutions to enhance consumers lives. Tom learnt how to understand his audience and craft something to enhance their experience. Merging this interest with his work within hospitality, he transitioned into roles that blended design principles with the art of salesmanship.
 

A pivotal moment unfolded in Tom's career when, after a mere four months with a new employer, both his manager and a fellow sales colleague together stated that he was not right for sales. The reasons they threw out were dismissed by Tom as baseless and generalised, igniting a desire to prove his colleague's wrong. With motivation to prove something, Tom negated the political ladder and soon emerged as top seller and was referred to by his team as 'The Peoples Champ'. Catching the eye of the companies training team (a department which soon got axed) Tom was consulting on coaching programmes and giving regular training sessions to wider colleagues. Yet, a disparaging comment from a peer, suggesting that new hires would not be in their role long enough to bother remembering their name, served as a catalyst for Tom's resolve to effect change.
 

Determined to disrupt the cycle of sales personnel, Tom ascended through managerial roles in various corporate settings, ultimately attaining a C Level directorship before his 30th birthday. Despite reaching this pinnacle, a sense of unfulfilled influence propelled him to establish Closers Ace, marking the commencement of his mission to revolutionise the perception and culture of global sales.
 

Beyond his professional achievements, Tom Luke takes pride in being a neurodiverse founder, navigating the challenges posed by ADHD and dyslexia. An advocate for neurodiversity in the professional landscape, Tom frequently imparts insights on launching and managing a business while embracing neurodivergent perspectives.

PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY SUMMARY

2013 - Tom starts his journey in hospitality. Tom will move in and out for the next five years, but within six months he will become head cocktail barman & waiter, running upto 200 covers a night.

2016 - Tom Luke becomes a visiting lecture / Artist in Residence at Birmingham City University. While pursueing freelance design projects for luxury clients.

2016 - Tom Luke gets hired to be on the founding team of a startup designer furniture company.​​

2018 - Tom Luke joins the UK's largest KBB retailer as a designer selling over £1.8m a year. He becomes top seller and takes on the learning and development of his colleagues voluntarily. 

2020 - Tom Luke gets promoted to management level and takes on £15m + targets. As well as successfully navigating his location through COVID, he will also spend his time across several struggling locations to re-energise them.

2022 - Tom Luke gets head hunted for a New York Luxury business focusing on the A&D market, heading up their UK & European territory.

2024 - Tom Luke gets head hunted again but this time for a European company at director level, taking charge of their expansion to London with a global territory focus across UK, Europe, Middle East & Central Asia.

Tom Luke still actively works in at director level, allowing him to stay relevant & focused on the current market. Closers Ace was born around 2023 when moving to London with a general focus on sales. However, through his experience within the luxury sector and working with high value products, he naturally transitioned into this niche in 2026.
